Six Simple Ways to Make Valentine's Day Special

Pull out some cute plates and bowls.

Make the morning special with some cute and inexpensive Valentine's Day plates or bowls. I take them out year after year and they just make breakfast a little more sweet and festive.

Make a special breakfast.

I love these little Dash waffle makers. This little heart- shaped one was the first one I purchased. What kid wouldn't like some of these adorable waffles on Valentine's Day? You can also make them in advance and freeze if you don't want to do it the morning of. Add a few valentine sprinkles into the mix for an added touch.

Make a sweet treat together.

Spending time together is a sweet gift in and of itself. Add a treat into the mix and it's even sweeter. Maybe it's some sugar cookie heart cutouts, or one of these easy treats, perfect to make with kids.

Share the love.

Package up your treat to share with neighbors or friends. I like to keep these bakery boxes on hand, they are perfect for sharing sweet treats. Wrap the boxes in a pretty grosgrain ribbon like this one to make it extra-special.

Read together.

Reading some valentine books together is an easy way to get in the spirit. Some of our favorites are Hug Machine, Tiny T-Rex and the Perfect Valentine, and Little Blue Truck's Valentine.

Have a 'fancy' dinner.

Dress in fancy clothes, pull out your fancy dishes, and have a 'fancy' dinner! I've seen this on Instagram and always think it's such a cute idea. You don't need to serve a fancy meal - mac and cheese, pizza, whatever your kids like best is perfect.

Showing a little extra Valentine's Day love doesn't need to be complicated or expensive.
