Outdoor Fall Bucket List Ideas
Get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather with these ideas perfect for families with kids of all ages.
Go apple picking.
This is a classic, and I always look forward to it. It's a great outdoor activity and fun for all ages. This activity is not only enjoyable but also provides a chance to teach kids about where their food comes from. Don’t forget to bring home some fresh apples to make homemade apple pie or applesauce.
Visit a pumpkin patch.
Head to a local pumpkin patch and let the kids pick out their own pumpkins. Many patches also offer hayrides, corn mazes, and petting zoos for extra fun.
Take a drive to see fall foliage.
The beauty of fall is really hard to beat. Take a drive through the countryside to enjoy the stunning fall foliage. Plan a route that includes stops at lookout points or small towns with fall festivals.
Take a trip to the zoo.
We love the zoo in the fall. It's so much more pleasant than when it's hot and crowded in the summer. Check out your local zoo or take a drive to a nearby zoo.
Hit up a local farmer's market.
This is the perfect time of year to grab some fresh produce or baked goods from a local farmer's market.
Take a nature hike.
Find a nearby trail and enjoy a family hike. Look for colorful leaves, interesting rocks, and wildlife. This is a great way to appreciate the beauty of nature and get some exercise.
Visit a fall festival or fair.
Many communities host fall festivals with games, food, and entertainment. Check local listings for events like Oktoberfest, harvest fairs, and Halloween parades.
Have a bonfire night.
If you have a safe space for it, plan a family bonfire. Roast marshmallows, make s’mores, and tell stories around the fire. It's a great way to spend a crisp fall evening.
Indoor Fall Bucket List Ideas
If the weather is a tad too chilly or rainy, here are some fun and cozy fall ideas.
Bake some seasonal treats.
All those pumpkin recipes absolutely call my name in the fall. Spend a day in the kitchen baking fall favorites like pumpkin bread, apple pie, or caramel apples. Involve the kids in the process for some quality family time. Try this paleo pumpkin bread for a healthy treat - I make it on repeat every year!
Grab a fall drink.
Go out for your favorite fall drink - or learn to make your own. There's something special about that first pumpkin spice latte. You can also make your own at home with recipes like this pumpkin spice creamer from The Peachie Spoon.
Make homemade applesauce.
Use all the apples you picked for a batch of fresh applesauce. It's easy, delicious and makes your whole kitchen smell like fall. This is my no-fail applesauce recipe.
Have a movie night.
Indoors or outdoors, hosting a movie night with friends or family is always fun and simple to do. Grab some blankets, your favorite snacks and watch a cozy fall movie.
Make some fall crafts.
Gather leaves, acorns, and pinecones during your outdoor adventures and use them for crafting. Make leaf rubbings, decorate pumpkins, or create a fall wreath together.
Decorate your home for fall or Halloween.
Get the family involved in decorating the house with fall decor. Use pumpkins, gourds, and seasonal flowers like mums. Create a festive and cozy atmosphere that everyone will enjoy. Whether you go scary or classic, decorating your front door, front yard, or inside your home is a fun fall activity.
Host a family game night.
With shorter days, evenings are perfect for indoor fun. Play board games, card games, or even have a family talent show. It’s a great way to bond and have fun together.
Enjoy the season!
Fall is a season full of opportunities for families to connect and create memories. Use this ultimate bucket list for families as a guide to make the most of the season together. Whether you’re outdoors exploring or cozying up indoors, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
