Movies for Every Age

When planning your Halloween movie night, it’s important to choose films that fit the age of your kids. Here are some suggestions for a variety of ages.

For Little Kids

Room on the Broom: short and sweet, based on the popular book.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: a classic that never gets old.

Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest: adorable and not too spooky, my kids all loved this one when they were younger.

For Big Kids

Hotel Transylvania: funny and lighthearted, with just enough 'spook.'

Casper: nostalgic and heartwarming.

Hocus Pocus: silly, iconic, and great for this age group.

For Tweens

Hocus Pocus 2: a fun continuation if they've seen the original.

Goosebumps or Goosebumps 2: adventurous with a little suspense.

The Nightmare Before Christmas: is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? Let them decide!

Tip: If you have a mix of ages, start with a shorter film for the little ones, then tuck them in and move on to something geared toward the older kids.

Halloween Movie Night Snacks

Is it even a movie night without snacks? Here are some fun, easy and festive snacks.

Popcorn Mix: Toss air-popped popcorn with candy corn, pretzels, and a handful of Halloween M&Ms for a sweet-and-salty treat. This is our family favorite! We love the Whirley-Pop for making our popcorn.

Pumpkin Patch Veggie Tray: Arrange baby carrots into the shape of a pumpkin with celery sticks for the stem. Add ranch or hummus on the side.

Monster Apples: Cut apples into wedges, spread with peanut butter or sunflower butter, and use mini marshmallows or yogurt-covered raisins as 'teeth.'

Halloween Candy Board: Keep it simple with a mix of Halloween candy favorites—bonus points for arranging them on a cute seasonal plate or platter.

Pre-Made Treats: Just grab a bag of Halloween-themed cookies or pumpkin-shaped pretzels from the store!

Set the Scene

Make your Halloween movie night extra fun with these fun additions.

Dim the lights: and light a few battery-operated candles. I love these ghost candles!

Snuggle up: let everyone snuggle up with cozy blankets. This Halloween blanket looks super cozy.

Pajamas: get cozy with Halloween pajamas or socks (not a necessity by any means, but a fun addition if you have them!).

A Halloween movie night is a simple way to slow down, spend quality time together, and create memories—without ever leaving the house.

With the right mix of kid-friendly movies and festive snacks, it might just become one of your family’s favorite fall traditions.
