A Summer Wellness Reset for Busy Moms
Today I am sharing how to do a summer wellness reset, just in time for the start of summer.
Let’s be real: summer can be equal parts fun and chaos. The kids are out of school, routines are out the window, and suddenly you’re expected to be the snack supplier, activity planner, lifeguard, and chauffeur—all at the same time.
If you’ve been feeling a little off-track or overwhelmed, it might be time for a gentle summer wellness reset.
We’re not talking about an intense overhaul. Just a few intentional shifts to help you feel more energized and grounded. I know that I could use a reset after the busy and hectic last few months of the school year.
Think of it as your invitation to pause, refresh, and take care of yourself—because wellness for us moms matters too.
How To Do a Summer Wellness Reset
Let’s walk through some simple summer wellness tips.
1. Revisit your morning routine.
Your mornings set the tone for the whole day. In the summer, things might look a little different—later wake-ups, slower starts, getting kids out of the house and off to camp. Instead of fighting the change, lean into it.
Try this: Wake up 20 minutes before the rest of the house. Step outside for a few breaths of fresh air, or go for a quick walk.
2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Between the heat and the constant on-the-go mom life, hydration is a must. Keep a large water bottle with you and flavor it with lemon, cucumber, or berries if plain water isn’t your thing.
Try this: We love Just Ingredients Electrolytes added to cold water for a refreshing and hydrating summer drink. With no added sugar and clean ingredients, it's a healthy choice. (You can get 10% off with my link or with code 'NOTES.')
3. Simplify summer meals.
Summer is the season of fresh produce and simple meals. Lean into easy, nourishing foods that require minimal prep. Think grilled proteins, colorful salads, smoothies, and fruit-packed snacks.
Try this: Keep a list of your go-to summer meals and rotate them to save time and energy.
4. Protect your energy (and your skin).
Sun protection is a must, but don’t forget to protect your emotional energy, too. Say no to plans that drain you.
Try this: Build in quiet time—even if it's just 10 minutes in your bedroom with the door closed and the AC on.
5. Move your body.
Movement doesn't have to mean a full workout. A walk with your kids, dancing in the kitchen, or stretching before bed all count. The goal isn’t to burn calories—it’s to feel good in your body.
Try this: Try a new form of movement this summer - a class, an online workout, or a weekly walk with a friend.
6. Do something just for you.
Moms spend so much time taking care of everyone else. This summer, give yourself permission to do something just for you—guilt-free.
Try this: Read a book, try a new hobby, listen to a podcast that inspires you, or make plans with friends.
Final Thoughts
A summer wellness reset is not a major overhaul of all of your daily habits - it's about reconnecting with a version of yourself that feels grounded and healthy.
So give yourself the gift of a little reset. Start small. Keep it simple. And remember: when we feel good, the whole family benefits.
